Operations Executive (Night Operations)

Location: Heathrow

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (19:00 – 07:00)

Salary: £42,000 – £48,000

A leading UK logistics organisation operating within global airside, aerospace, and international freight networks is seeking an experienced Global Logistics Executive to join its night operations team based at Heathrow.

This is a high-responsibility, time-critical role covering worldwide freight movements across road, air, and sea. You will be working within a 24/7 control environment supporting urgent aviation logistics, including aircraft-on-ground (AOG) and other priority shipments.

The position requires strong decision-making ability, attention to detail, and the confidence to manage complex international freight operations independently during out-of-hours shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end freight operations across road, air, and sea during night shifts
• Arrange bookings, raise air waybills, complete customs declarations, and issue transit documentation
• Ensure urgent and time-critical shipments, including AOG and aircraft parts, are delivered on schedule and in compliance with regulations
• Review import/export paperwork and ensure accuracy of customs submissions
• Provide clear, timely updates to customers regarding shipment progress
• Source freight rates and routing options, preparing accurate quotations where required
• Maintain correct job costing and ensure supplier information is accurately recorded
• Monitor and manage shared inboxes, prioritising urgent operational queries

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in a time-sensitive logistics or aviation freight environment
• Confident working under pressure, particularly with urgent or AOG shipments
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and systems such as ASM, Boxtop, and CDS
• Detail-focused approach with a strong emphasis on accuracy in documentation and customs entries
• Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve operational issues quickly
• Strong communication skills when dealing with airlines, hauliers, overseas agents, and internal teams
• Comfortable making independent operational decisions on night shift
• Resilient, adaptable, and able to perform in a fast-changing environment
• Collaborative approach with a strong team ethic
• Full UK driving licence (minor points may be considered)
• Continuous 5-year employment history with minimal gaps
• Eligible for UK employment and airside clearance requirements
