About the Role
When a child's life is in turmoil, they need a safe harbor. As a Support Worker, you will provide immediate, short-term residential care to children and young people entering care in emergency circumstances.
You will work with children who are experiencing high levels of trauma, distress, or placement breakdowns. Your primary goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental environment that offers stability, physical safety, and emotional containment during a critical transition period.
Key Responsibilities
- Immediate Stabilization: Provide high-calibre, trauma-informed daily care to children entering emergency placements.
- Building Trust: Establish fast, meaningful, and professional relationships with young people navigating acute crises.
- Safety & De-escalation: Manage challenging behaviors, emotional dysregulation, and high-risk scenarios using proactive de-escalation techniques.
- Daily Support: Assist with routine activities, cooking, educational needs, and personal goals to maintain daily structure.
- Multi-Agency Liaison: Safeguard young people by maintaining strict records and working closely with social workers, emergency services, and health care providers.
What We're Looking For
- Resilience & Empathy: Exceptional emotional regulation, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to complex behaviors.
- Experience: Paid UK Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, or within complex residential settings is essential.
- DBS: Full enhanced dbs on the update service
- Flexibility: Ability to work shifts, including unsociable hours, weekends, and overnight sleep-ins.
- Driving License: Full UK Driving License preferred (for transport during placements).
