Engineering Technician

Are you driven by problem-soling, technical challenge, and keeping manufacturing operations performing at their very best? As an Engineering Technician at our Batley bakery, you’ll play a vital part in keeping our production site running safely, smoothly, and reliably around the clock.

You’ll be joining a fast-moving FMCG environment where no two days are the same, and where your technical expertise makes a visible impact every single day. Working with a wide range of modern and legacy equipment, you’ll be part of a close-knit engineering team that takes real pride in keeping the factory performing at its peak.

This is a night shift role, operating on a 4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern, covering 18:45 to 06:45. You’ll benefit from longer rest periods between working blocks while playing a key role in supporting the site’s 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Your Role in Creating Quality Bakes

• Be a key part of the engineering team that keeps our production lines running efficiently within a busy 24/7 food manufacturing environment.

• Play an integral role in maintaining safe, reliable, and high-performing equipment that underpins product quality and factory output.

• Work closely with colleagues across Production, Engineering, and Technical teams to support smooth day-to-day operations.

• Be involved in creating a culture focused on reliability, continuous improvement, and high engineering standards.

• Contribute to a site where safety, food quality, and teamwork sit at the heart of everything we do.

The Key Ingredients

• A completed electrical or mechanical apprenticeship, with an HNC or equivalent qualification viewed as a strong advantage.

• Solid technical capability across electrical and mechanical systems, including drives, controls, inverters, PLCs, and confident fault-finding within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and positively influence engineering and operational best practice.

• A high level of self-motivation, ownership, and professionalism, with the confidence to set standards, support colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
